The Habit Has a Name

"Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose." — Viktor Frankl

Criticism and complaint are the two devils whispering in our ears. Blaming is easy — and when we're "right," it feeds the ego. Let's be straight: we aren't always right. We are complex, dynamic people, flawed because we are growing. We aim for growth on one hand, and on the other, we ignore the exact places where growth is asking for our attention.

They say you are only as strong as your weakest link. But here's the fascinating part — your weakest link is the aspect of yourself you don't yet know. If you knew it, you'd already be working on it. So for most of us, the weakest link isn't a flaw. It's ignorance of the flaw.

And sometimes we bond with our weaknesses. Because they come with valid reasons. And holding onto that pain feels justified — even righteous. But being completely unaffected by those valid reasons? That is the real freedom. Not ignoring them. Not blaming, complaining, criticising. But studying them, understanding them, accepting them, feeling them fully — and then choosing.

Choosing how you respond to what your circumstances have handed you.

That space between what happens and how you react — that's not empty.

That's where you live.

Love,

Arundhati
