Resentment Is Expensive

"Any person capable of angering you becomes your master; he can anger you only when you permit yourself to be disturbed by him." — Epictetus

Let me start by being frank. Resentment is a waste of time. It is a classic saboteur and, quite honestly, worthless. I know — big, extreme words.

Resentment, energetically, is a cord that attaches you to a person. A cord that keeps draining you long after the event. Every time you think of it, energy is used to keep that thought alive — mentally, emotionally, and sometimes physically.

Forgiveness is the only true amrut. It frees you from the actions of others, from the control such situations have over you, from the box that gives others authority to define your scope. Forgiveness must be given — not should. Must. But only if you want to truly free yourself. It cuts that cord. Isolates the incident. Makes it small and insignificant.

Resentment is like drinking small doses of poison and blaming someone else for giving it to you. You always have the option to not drink it.

So don't. Choose the amrut.

Release yourself.

Love,

Arundhati
